No special tools required. Remove the seat, and rack, as well as fairing, and install this in place of your oil bottle. Some years you do need to rotate the battery tray around 180 degrees. VERY easy install, and simple way to add storage! This only works if you still have your rear fender piece on the bike, and you remove the oil tank.
